Van Gogh
Life and Times Van Gogh was a colour wizard. He explored a variety of techniques during his relatively short life as an artist, developing his use of colour from sombre-toned sharply lit painting to the vivid intense use of colour we would associate him with today. He suffered from epilepsy and was tormented by angst and mental illness, and found great difficulty in forming personal relationships. As a result of this, and the general rejection of his work by the art world, he took his own life at the age of 37
