Band Bio In August 1992, DeLonge was introduced to Mark Hoppus through his sister, Anne Hoppus. After hours of garage jamming the duo decided they needed a drummer and DeLonge recruited friend Scott Raynor. The three began playing together and called themselves Duck Tape, until DeLonge thought of the name Blink.
In May 1993, the band recorded their first demo called Flyswatter. After they released another demo, called Demo #2. This grabbed the attention of Cargo Music, which the band signed for and recorded their debut studio album Cheshire Cat. After witch the band had to change their name In order to avoid a legal dispute, due to an Irish pop act with the same name. Blink then became Blink 182.
The band then went on to record their second album titled Dude Ranch. They signed with record label MCA in 1998 to increase album sales. The album did well, selling 1.5 million copies worldwide. Midway through a U.S. tour in 1998, drummer Scott Raynor was ejected from the band. This paved the way for Travis Barker to join, who filled in for Scott after his departure. After being asked to join, Barker accepted and left his current band at the time, The Aquabats.

In 2005 tensions between the band members occured, ending Blink 182 and forming two different bands, DeLonge created Angels and Airwaves and Mark and Travis started 44.
