During the time he was a drummer for the legendary band Nirvana, Dave Grohl creative ambitions were not completely fulfilled by the band, and he spent time writing his own material.

Six months post-Nirvana, Grohl started work in the studio recording many of the songs he’d previously written. So was born the Foo-Fighters self-titled debut album. Most of the tracks were entirely Grohl’s work – as a talented musician he created the complete sound, including vocals, guitar and drums.

Live performances were vital to the album’s success, so Grohl recruited three other members to form a band. They started their first tour in the spring of 1995. Memorable singles from the album included I’ll Stick Around, and Big Me.

The group went back to the studio to record their second album The Color and The Shape, which was eventually released in 1997. Three singles came from the album, Monkey Wrench, My Hero, and Everlong. Next followed more touring, and then the recording of their third album There is Nothing Left to Lose, which included the successful singles Learn To Fly and Breakout.

The Foos fourth studio album was One By One, released in 2002. Singles from the album include All My Life, Times Like These, Low, and Have It All. The fifth was In Your Honor. This was a double CD, with one full of rock songs, the other acoustic material. The singles off the album included Best of You, DOA, Resolve,No Way Back, and Miracle. During the promotion tour for the album, the band performed at Roswell – fitting as ‘Foo Fighters’ is an airforce term for UFOs.

2007 saw the release of their sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace Memorable songs off the album include The Pretender and Long Road to Ruin.
