Bio  When still at school Adam formed the band Kara's Flowers with 3 school friends, guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bass player Mickey Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick. The talented foursome were signed up to make an album with the legendary producer Rob Cavallo. Sales, though, were poor, and the band was released from the label.

Leaving Mickey and Ryan behind to study at UCLA, Adam and Jeese signed up at the State University of New York. Here they were exposed to a whole new wave of musical influences, and Adam discovered he had a knack of singing in a lilting melodic voice. Meanwhile Jessie found a talent for composing on the keyboard.

When the pair returned to LA, they hooked back-up with Mickey and Ryan, and the four re-invented themselves, adding a funk R&B slant to their energetic rock and roll. The addition of the talented guitarist James Valentine added depth to their new sound.

The five relaunched themselves with a new band name, Maroon 5. The band's first album, Songs About Jane, was released in 2002 to mega-success. The singles off the album include the classics Harder to Breathe and This Love.
