Far From The Madding Crowd
Plot The startlingly beautiful Bathsheba Everdene inherits a farm, and is in in the unusual position (for a woman in 19th century Wessex) of making her own romantic decisions. Three men cross her path: Gabriel Oak, a strong quiet farmer, William Boldwood, an older local landowner with a serious outlook, and Sergeant Troy, a dashing military officer. Initially Bathsheba makes the common mistake of falling for style over substance.
