The Beach
Plot Richard is a young American back-packing through South-East Asia. He's searching for somewhere undeveloped, somewhere different, somewhere off the tourist trail. In a filthy guest-house he has a bizarre enounter with the crazy Daffy, who gives him a map showing the secret location of a paradise beach. The next day Daffy has commited suicide.
Richard joins up with the occupents of the next room, a French couple, Etienne and Francoise, and together they set out to find the beach. After a boat ride, and a long swim across open seas, they walk ashore on a stunningly beautiful tropical island. Crossing the island, they eventually come to the top of a high waterfall. They leap to a pool far below, a leap of faith that they hope leads to the hidden beach.
