Plot

14 year old Regan has turned violent and abusive. Her mother, Chris, takes her to see the doctor, but neither he nor his colleagues can offer an explanation. In desperation Chris turns to Father Karras, a young priest for help.

Father Karras is horrified by the appalling and evil behaviour of the girl. He fears that she is possessed by a demon. Feeling out of his depth, he calls an older priest, Father Merrin, who has has experience of exorcism.

The devil within Regan tests the faith of the two priests to breaking point.

Why in 100 Best?
Without doubt, one of the scariest movies ever made.
