The Shining

Plot  Jack Torrance, a recovering alchoholic, takes a job as a winter caretaker at a large hotel high in the Colorado mountains. He takes along his wife Wendy, and his young son Danny.

Dick, the hotel's chef, tells Danny that they share a psychic gift, or as Dick says, 'The Shining'. Dick infers that evil spirits inhabit the hotel.

As winter draws in, the last of the hotel staff leave, leaving the Torrance family alone. Heavy snowfalls cut the hotel off. The malevolence of the hotel's ghosts possesses Jack.
