Description Chamonix, nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, has a rich tradition, both as a ski resort and a mountaineering centre. The town itself is lively, with lots of good shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. A highlight of the resort is the 19km off-piste Vallée-Blance run, from the top of the L'Aiguille Du Midi cable car, all the way to the the Mer De Glace. Why in 100 Best? Just an hour from Geneva airport, with some terrific skiing. The mountain restaurants have a lovely laid-back atmosphere, with great views of the Mont Blanc range. |
