Description
Vail is a pleasant pedestrianised village, built mostly in Swiss-chalet style. The resort's accommodation spreads along the highway, so when you book, try to pick somewhere near the center, as it's possible to end up an inconvenient distance away from the centre.
The skiing is perfect for beginners and intermediates, with a large number of suitably-graded slopes within easy access of the village. For hardened skiers, there's plenty of challenging terrain on Vail's Frontside and the seven legendary Back Bowls. Or have a pop at the Minturn Mile, a great off-piste run which conveniently finishes up at the Minturn Saloon, a characterful 100 year old authentic bar. Off the slopes, there's lots of interest in the resort, such as art galleries and a museum. The resort livens up at nighttime, with a large number of restaurants and bars to choose from.
