Band Bio
Nathan, Caleb and Jared are brothers. When they were young, for long periods the family had no permanent home - their father Leon was continually traveling, in his calling as a United Pentecostal Church preacher. The family traveled with him - the kids were home-schooled.
In 1998, the brothers moved to Nashville. It's a great city for energizing you if you've any music talent, and so it was with the brothers. They formed a band, calling it Kings of Leon, and enrolled their cousin Matthew to complete the lineup.
To begin with, the band concentrated on played local venues, including clubs and even rodeos. Their talent didn't go unnoticed, and they were signed to the RCA label.
The band's debut album was Youth and Young Manhood, which did well in the UK charts. All the songs were co-written with Angel Petraglia, a prolific song-writing working out of Nashville. The band's first single, coming off the album, was Molly's Chamber Off the back of the album, Kings of Leon were enrolled as supporting acts onto the tours of U2 and The Strokes. The exposure this gave them was (commercially) enormously helpful.
Kings of Leon's second studio album was Aha Shake Heartbreak, released first in the UK (2004), then a few months later in the US. The singles The Bucket, Four Kicks, and King of the Rodeo came off the album. Again the band went extended tour, this time with Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam.
In 2007 came the group's third album Because of the Time, hitting the #1 spot in the UK charts in the week of its release. Memorable tracks include On Call, Fans, and Charmer.
